I was privileged to attend the official opening of the Skokholm Bird Observatory today, reinstated after it’s first foray from 1933 to 1976.  Sadly a trip to the island was out of the question due to the swell and the wind, so 150 (or so) specially invited guests (mostly the amazing volunteers who have rescued the island) congregated in the Coronation Hall in Dale to celebrate the ‘BO’ status being conferred on Skokholm for the second time (and I’m sure it is here to stay). The photo is a small part of the brilliant stained glass window created by Linda Norris and Rachel Phillips and now proudly situated in a ‘special place’ on the island – to see the whole thing, visit Skokholm!  A jewel in Pembrokeshire’s crown…..
