My first day out guiding as West Coast Birdwatching with Pat from London, and what a great day we had.  One of Pat’s most wanted birds was Dipper, so we went to a fabulous spot on the Eastern Cleddau and had fantastic views of 2 adults feeding 2 recently fledged juveniles, who were starting to get to grips with bobbing up and down and swimming quite nicely!  In the woods here plenty of spring song, including Wood Warbler.  On to the Gann and we were lucky with some migrating waders, including 15 Whimbrel, 3 Bar-tailed Godwit (one in summer plumage) and 6 Dunlin.  Short stops at St. Ann’s Head and Dale Airfield both produced Chough (3 and 6 respectively).  Finally we spent a relaxing couple of hours at Marloes Mere watching the breeding waterfowl, another Chough flew over calling and a smart Peregrine sat in a field and gave prolonged views.
